History of Trek by: P.J. Sutherland
Studying the Star Trek we adore, going where no one has gone before. Kirk was handsome, bold and audacious, Doc McCoy was wise and sagacious. Spock had adorably pointed ears, and Scotty was wise beyond his beers. Suppressed emotions made Vulcans dull, but the vicious Klingons filled the lull. Characters and aliens galore, all peopled the Star Trek we adore.
Star Trek was gone and we were forlorn, then The Next Generation was born. Bald Picard of the resounding voice, Commander Riker the stud of choice. Data, Laforge and Deanna Troi, Doctor Crusher and her little boy. Sad to say the Vulcans still were dull, Klingons now sported a bumpy skull. To this generation Worf was born, but some Star Trek fans were still forlorn.
Where has Trek gone? Was our mournful song, 'til Sisko's Deep Space Nine came along. A bald leader with a sturdy crew, Odo, Miles, Bashir and Kira too. Cardassians, were they friend or foe, and the Ferengi had far to go. Jadzia's uniform made eyes roam, Worf arrived to make the station home. Sometimes a dull Vulcan came along, but we kept singing our mournful song.
What new show would keep us trekking on? Where had the fun of our Star Trek gone? Then came Janeway with her bun of steel, Chakotay with his beliefs surreal. Tuvok with his emotions on hold, Ensign Kim voyaging off so bold. Sweet Kes and Neelix with his wild hair, Paris and Torres, that torrid pair. Though Seven and the Borg make us yawn, Voyager still keeps us trekking on.
Tell us what the future holds for Trek, What will it be, Star Trek or Star Wreck? Since Brannon Braga has full control, his vision of Trek is on a roll. And we must live by his golden rule, Klingons are rude and dull Vulcans drool. Is there no hope for the years ahead, is our beloved franchise almost dead? Can someone save us from his dreck? He thinks Borg are the future of Trek.
Let us pray.
